I highly recommend Dr. Nowak to anyone. Dr. Downer in Seattle had all but ruined me and never cared. I had an on the job injury and tore my labrum in my hip. With zero concern or treatment plan from Downer I lost the prime years of my 20s. I was living in pain every day and normal tasks were beyond taxing. Thankfully I found Dr. Nowak and he really changed my outlook on life. He was caring, informative and has a great bedside manner. He always gave me the time I needed and never hurried me just because he was busy or getting off soon. He cleaned up my surgery and really went to bat for me with LNI. if you need arthroscopic surgery, he's my recommendation.
Doug Nowak has a large ego and that makes him a dangerous person to deal with. I was a patient of Nowak for over a year and a half back in 2012-13 when I was still able work. I was sent to him by Boeing medical. He looked me in the eye and told me I had no permanent damage and that I would be fine. He worked with me until my L&I claim closed. I had to get a medical layoff from another doctor since Nowak never explained all my options. He coerced me to stay at my job to protect L&I and Boeing at my expense, which is why I am still in constant pain and not able to work. I have suffered for nearly 5 years now and my career is ruined and other people have contributed to my complete downfall but none more than Nowak. I recommend going somewhere else.
2015 Dr Nowak diagnosed a torn labrum in my 16 year old daughter after two other doctors and a CDI tech said there was none. His repair, and revolutionary rehab recommendations (that took searching to find a PT that would follow), has left my daughter pain free. She is back to dancing and just completed a 50+ summer backpacking trip carrying a 40 lb pack. She is now at the UW and has no problems sitting, where before she had a constant ache. He is a direct shooter, and a believer in continued mobility.
