I'd never ever been a patient a hospital before I was scared as sh**. From pre op. to post op to the recovery wing with the nurses I could not have been treated better with kindness patience and care. They held my hand when I cried from fear and they explained everything to me as I needed to know. The nurses and their assistants give remarkable round the clock care and they are busy too. Many of the nurses can be mistaken for Doctors as they are very professional and just as knowledgeable as many Doctors are and seem to know just as much to aid care for and treat their patients There are several Doctors on a surgical team and one of them checks in on you each day. They calmed me and reassured me. The nurses and their assistants work with commitment from compassion they really want to be there to help. I wrote down 19 of their names. I was so impressed and they even held my hand late at night when administering my meds, IVs saline etc and assistance to the bathroom and answered my buzzer requests in good time to help with my needs.
Attitudes effect outcomes. I hope they can someday see that.
If you or your loved one have complex medical needs I Can Not recommend this hospital, especially if you anticipate intensive care.
Took them about an hr just to give my mom pain reliever injection. My mom was in pain for total of almost 2hrs from home, ambulance and ER. Now we are getting a bill for just waiting around for almost a hour just for my mom to get pain reliever injection which she could have gotten either in the ambulance or as soon as she got to the hospital. It was very upsetting having to watch my mother in pain for almost an hour AFTER being taken to a room. She had been experiencing severe cramps for the past 3days. Since she was unable to keep anything down, taking pills wasn't an option. Then her pain suddenly worsen. No one deserves to feel that much pain for as long as my mom did while staying in the hospital. Avoiding this place at all costs from now on. If you want to be taken care of within 15 maybe 20mins DONT COME to this hospital.
The practitioners at this hospital did not seem to have the knowledge or experience needed to deal with complex issues and consequently risk of harm is higher and was experienced.
My father has been in and out several times only to end up landing in another ER due to this hospital's inept ability. Because his coverage is Medicare they kick him out within 48 hours without even figuring out the actual problem. The providers in the observation units have no power to treat the patients and diagnose properly. Providence is too concerned about what your insurance will or will not cover and could care less about patient care. Snohomish county needs another large hospital that cares.
Went in for major surgery nurses un caring. Staff not willing to send patients home with medication Dr ordered. This literally was the worst experience of my life. I went to have major surgery and be healed and when I left I was devastated. I can believe how staff treats patients and that Dr's allow this treatment of their patients. The staff here shows no respect or compassion for patients. I can't believe you can be in the medical field and have such disregard for human beings. Find a better hospital if you have to go here do it only in urgent situations. If you undergo surgery please find another hospital if you value your life at all this place is unacceptable and has no problem leaving you in severe pain and send you home from major surgery. Not right moral or ethical stay away.
I was there for an emergency operation for my appendix
The hospital is adequate for basic care...only.
I never ever want to go back to any hospital as a patient ever again, but if I had to it would be this one Thumbs Up to the Medical Surgical Nursing recovery wing at 10 South D wing G-d Bless Love David the scared older guy with the Teddy Bear :)
More importantly than that, I believe "attitudes effect outcomes". The overall attitude of the practitioners (especially doctors) seemed to lack the life giving approach you would want when you go to a hospital seeking help. I felt as though they looked at the negatives and disabilities vs the positives and the will to overcome. Due to our complexities, we felt as though we were a burden. Due to the overall negative attitude many important details that lead to quality care were overlooked.
Sadly I leave Providence Everett with an overall sense of regret we chose to go there. Their attitude is one that focuses on the lack rather than the ability. They do not understand the power of the will to live.
We have been to hospitals that do not focus on the disability and diagnosis but rather work to overcome the current hurdle and celebrate that success. They eagerly work to maximize whatever ability or potential is there without focusing on the lack. We have left those hospitals with success and gratitude.
